The Thirteen-Fifty Foundation, established in June of 2001
and incorporated in October of that year, was founded with
the core mission of celebrating America and the American Flag
by encouraging active and purposeful citizenship. Through
its name, the foundation honors the flag of the United States
of America. The number 13 representing the stripes of the
flag commemorating our nations original 13 colonies
... and the 50 representing the 50 stars commemorating the
50 states in the Union. The foundations colors are that
of the flags: red, white and blue. Charles Thompson,
secretary of the Continental Congresses of 1776 and 1777 designated
the colors red, white and blue for the seal of the United
States and they were later adopted for the flag as well. Red
symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and
innocence and blue symbolizes vigilance, perseverance and
justice. The Thirteen-Fifty Foundation embraces these noble
qualities and through its mission, seeks to kindle, nurture
and perpetuate them in citizens across the nation.
