Purpose of the Oath
The Reaffirmation of Citizenship
Oath combines sections of some of
America's greatest documents, namely,
The Declaration of Independence,
the U.S. Constitution and the
naturalization oath. The oath has
been created to bring to mind within
each American citizen who states
it, the importance of what it means
to be an American. It is hoped that
through the oath, citizens will
ponder the principles on which the
United States was founded and reaffirm
their commitment to their nation
not just in word, but also in deed
as active and engaged citizens.
